When I head into the wilderness with my significant other it's mostly because we try to get away from all of our devices. Of course that never happens and between the iHome, iPhone (for camera and instagram), and LED flashlight we need power!
Here it is, the BioLite CampStove by BioLite. This little sucker will power a single USB plugged device by burning small bit of bio fuel (twigs and other kindling). We haven't used the camp stove yet. We can tell you that it's looks a bit big for the serious backpacker, however if you are in dire need of USB power, this is it. It's not too heavy weighing in at 33 oz. It will take about 20 minutes of fire/cooking to charge your iPhone enough for 1hr of talk time and takes about 5 minutes to boil water. Will this ever replace our JetBoil? Who knows, but in the meanwhile it's an interesting insight into the future of backpacking.
